This week I took a big leap of faith. I resigned from my corporate design job to pursue a bolder vision of a venture in commercial real estate.
Many of my closest friends know that I have been sketching and dreaming about this venture for nearly a decade. And now, i’m taking my most active steps ever to pursue it by packing my belongings into a storage unit and embarking on a cross-country adventure to discover the best immersive environments in hospitality, food and beverage, fitness, entertainment and retail. What I hope to discover along the way are lifelong conspirators, entrepreneurial inspirations, and most of all a deeper connection with God that will reinforce and propel my sense of self and vocation.
It took a while for me to have the courage to pursue this particular leap of faith, even though its my second startup. I do not have a timeline, I do not even have an operating model yet. But I believe all those things will come in due time, just as they are meant to unfold. Corporate investors might say i’m crazy. My coaching and entrepreneur friends, meanwhile, would probably shout from the sidelines “go girl.” And I believe that one day so will most of my naysayers.
This leap is not about having a plan. Its not about weighing my risk or even validating the market for my new-to-world concept. It is about following my deepest intuition and letting it lead me into and through the unknown. It is also about embracing my deepest self: the self who shines a light into the dark future for others to follow, the self who encourages others to pursue their callings rather than playing it safe, the self who pursues her own calling boldly and unabashedly.
I don’t have all the answers, but gosh I want a bigger life-and i’m giving myself permission to pursue one. And I have learned that giving ourselves permission to go for the lives we really want is more than half the battle.
Join me here on this journey. I will be blogging regularly from the road and hope to leverage this platform to share inspirations, thoughts on life and calling, and interviews with people I encounter. And if you’re interested to engage with me more intimately, as of today I’m launching my coaching practice more formally and open to working by phone. Stay tuned for more. And welcome to the Sticky Bun Life (more on that theme next time)!!!
Best wishes! I’m excited for you and can’t wait to see what and who you discover.
Go Girl! I’m following you on your journey. . . . . . . .
